According to SunStar, the photo came from netizen Mar Israel who posted it on social media on December 28, 2019 on Facebook.

The photo showed an auxiliary officer who is at a stoplight at an intersection in Barangay Buhangin, Davao City.

The auxiliary officer is seen riding without a helmet in which it is a violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 10054, also known as the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.

Israel’s post went viral on social media, with reactions over 1,100; 3,000 shares; and about 350 comments as of 10:30 AM on Sunday (December 29).

Based on the report, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Police Captain Rose Aguilar said that he identified the officer as Ruvelyn Daven who is stationed at Laverna Police Outpost under the Buhangin Police Station.

Upon investigation, Dave said that she forgot to bring her helmet. Hence, Land Transportation Office issued a temporary operator’s permit to Daven for violating Section 7 of RA 10054 for riding a motorcycle without a helmet, with the fine of ₱1,500.

“This office has reminded all its personnel to include auxiliaries that we are law enforcers so we should always be examples in obeying the laws,”

The Davao City government has been strengthening its campaign on raising awareness against helmet-less drivers for giving no reconsideration for the denied “Lingap Para sa Mahirap” assistance request because of policy violation.

The government’s “Lingap Para sa Mahirap” provide its constituents with medical assistance, food supplements, and burial assistance.

“Let this incident be a warning to all that DCPO will not tolerate this violation even if it involves its personnel and auxiliaries,”
