FDA Releases Public Health Advisory Regarding Lambanog
PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY – Because of the recent incidents of alcohol poisoning, the FDA has released a public health advisory regarding how to know if the lambanog you’re going to buy is safe.

In a previous article, we can recall that the death toll from alcohol poisoning caused by Lambanog rose to 17. In addition to this, the producer of the drink, Rey Lambanog could face possible charges.
Aside from the deaths, more than 400 people have already been hospitalized due to alcohol poisoning. Some areas have even banned the sale of lambanog.
With this, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a public health advisory on how to know if your lambanog is safe.
During an interview with DZMM, Atty. Noel Del Prado stated that the lambanog must first be checked and registered under the FDA. However, when it comes to backyard producers, it can’t be covered completely by the FDA, he added.
Dapat po ito ay nasuri bago ito inilabas ng merkado at inisyuhan siya ng product registration. ‘Yan po ang nagtitiyak sa publiko na ‘yung kakainin o iinumin natin ay ligtas
Atty. Noel Del Prado
He also added that the Local Government Unit should also be hands-on when making sure that the food safety act is enforced. With this, the FDA has released the list of registered lambanog distilleries.
