Typhoon Ursula Death Toll Rose To 28, Says NDRRMC
TYPHOON URSULA – Typhoon Ursula, internationally called Phanfone, left with 28 fatalities as it leaves PAR, says NDRRMC.
According to PhilStar, in Region VI (Western Visayas), 19 fatalities were reported, with 13 of them from the province of Iloilo while two more were injured.
On the other hand, Capiz confirmed four fatalities and the province of Aklan reported two deaths.
Meanwhile, in the Eastern Visayas region (Region VIII), 8 dead individuals were confirmed and were spread among the provinces of Southern Leyte, Leyte, Biliran, Eastern Samar, and Samar.
One more death was confirmed in the province of Cebu in Central Visayas (Region VII).
Based on the report, 12 people were reported missing, where two of those were from Capiz province, six from Iloilo, and four from Eastern Samar.
Typhoon Ursula (internationally named Phanfone) tracked a similar path as Super Typhoon Yolanda (internationally named Haiyan) which is, by far, the nation’s deadliest storm which left more than 7,300 people dead or missing in 2013.
Cindy Ferrer, information officer at the Western Visayas region’s disaster officer, described Ursula as the younger sibling of Haiyan.
