Bacolod City Councilor Urges Village Officials To Instal CCTVs

BACOLOD CITY – A Bacolod City councilor recently urged all village officials to install CCTVs within their area of authority.

According to SunStar, Councilor Lady Gles Pallen, who is the president of the Barangay League, explained that installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will intensify the peace and order situation in the city.

Pallen added that the officials should install CCTVs, especially in the strategic areas within their villages.

Out of the 61 villages in Bacolod, Barangay Tangub and Barangay Taculing already installed CCTVs, with Tangub installing their command center; while Taculing installes five CCTVs in identified strategic areas.

Earlier, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) urged all officials to install CCTVs or a command center within their villages.

Based on the report, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said that the Development Council (CDC) has a recommendation to purchase additional 73 high-definition CCTVs that are set to be installed in various areas in the city.

Familiaran further said that this will be enacted by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), who also submitted the lists of 73 areas in Bacolod that will be covered for the installation of CCTVs.

Among those areas are the following:

  • 6th Street
  • Alijis-Taculing or Bacolod Memorial Park
  • Alijis Road
  • Araneta Avenue
  • Circumferential Road
  • Golden Field Araneta Avenue
  • Gonzaga, street
  • Hilado Street
  • Luzuriaga Street
  • Mabini Street
  • Magsaysay Avenue
  • entrance and exit of Bacolod Government Center
  • Paglaum-Burgos Streets
  • Rizal Street
