Here’s Reason Why Carmina Villaroel Wears Red Underwear While Shooting “Sunod”
CARMINA VILLAROEL – Actress and tv host Carmina Villaroel revealed the reason why she wore red underwear while shooting “Sunod.”
Following a previous article, veteran actress Carmina Villaroel reveals she experiences anxiety attacks while shooting her film “Sunod.” Her latest film is an entry for the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival.
The story is about a working mom who has a scary encounter with a mysterious spirit. She has to take on the high-paying but demanding job of a call center agent to afford her daughter’s medical expenses.
Carmina Villaroel disclosed that while she was reading the script, she suddenly felt anxious and couldn’t breathe. She told the staff to stop taping for a while. She took some rest and applied some aromatic oil to treat her panic attacks.
“I already know what to do during panic attacks. So, I just had to pause and do some deep breathing. I also applied aromatic oil on my forehead,” she said.
During the press conference of “Sundo” on Sunday, December 15, Carmina Villaroel said she followed some “rituals” to ward off evil spirits while filming the movie. Based on a report from PEP, she said the production crew gave the cast some ginger to put in their pockets before the shooting.
“Every time we shoot, we always put ginger… binibigtan kami ng luya, inilalagay sa pocket,” she said.
According to the report, aside from putting ginger in her pocket, she also followed other superstition to protect herself from evil spirits. She wore red underwear and “pagpapagpag” with salt before going home.
“Every time na nagsu-shoot ako, naka-red underwear ako, plus the luya…”
“Bago umuwi ng bahay, magpagpag ka raw ng salt. Yun ang mga rituals na ginawa ko. Na ginawa rin naming sa pelikula, just to be safe, kasi wala naming masama,” she added.
The horror movie “Sunod” will be aired on December 25 until January 7, 2020.
