Davao City Hit by Earthquake with 3.1 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 3.1 magnitude quake in Davao City, December 14, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.

Phivolcs recorded a 5.6 magnitude quake in Makilala, North Cotabato at around 8 pm on July 9. It was followed by several aftershocks.

Recently, a quake has hit a part of Davao del Sur. At 08:27 am today, December 14, 2019, Davao City was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao del Sur was located at 07.04°North, 125.37°East – 026 km South 83° West of Davao City. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 001 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that Intensity II was felt in Davao City. Meanwhile, there are no expected damages caused by the quake and as well as aftershocks. Keep safe everyone. We’ll keep you posted for updates.
