Following the notification about the fact-checking done, we found out that the source of the article has corrected it as it is not a true story. We humbly did the same as we picked up a fictional work as a real story. Taking the responsibility, we changed the title to “FAKE NEWS: Old Man Claims His Fart Kills Mosquitoes Within 6-Meter Range”. We clarify that there’s no truth to the story of a man whose fart can allegedly kill mosquitoes.

KAMPALA, UGANDA – An old man identified as Joe Rwamirama claims that his fart can kill mosquitoes within six meters. Is it really true?

A news parody website reported that a 48-year-old man from Uganda is claiming that no insect can lay a foot on him, not even a fly because of his fart. He also claims that a manufacturing company hired him to develop a new insect repellent.

Joe Rwamirama allegedly explained that he is just eating ordinary food and like normal people. He is also taking a bath daily and farts just like everyone else but it is dangerous to tiny insects including mosquitoes.

I smell like a normal man and I bathe daily and my farts are just like everyone else, they are only dangerous to small insects and especially mosquitoes,” Rwamirama said.

The Ugandan’s mosquito-repelling farts are very popular around the town. Some residents describe Joe as a respectful person and only farts in areas wherein mosquitoes can be found.

The old man is also dreaming that his farts can be developed into a commercially available insect-repellent. He also claims that a manufacturing company is paying him million to create a new insecticide. However, the company’s identity remains unidentified.

The story has been republished by “The Sun” but eventually removed it after discovering that the story is just a fiction created by a satire website. However, other websites have reported the same article, which is just a joke.
