Southern Leyte Hit by Earthquake with 3.5 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 3.5 magnitude quake in Southern Leyte today, December 11, 2019.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Southern Leyte. At 03:00 pm today, December 11, 2019, Anahawan was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5. An intensity was recorded of the said quake.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Southern Leyte was located at 10.29°North, 125.29°East – 004 km North 55° East of Anahawan. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 027 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated that Palo, Leyte felt Intensity I. According to the agency, there are no damages and aftershocks expected from the quake.
