Bacolod City Council Mulls Declaring Ben Tulfo as “Persona Non-Grata”
BACOLOD CITY – The majority of members of the city council proposed the declaration of the veteran Filipino broadcaster Ben Tulfo as “Persona Non-Grata”.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran is accusing Ben Tulfo of embarrassing and maligning Bacolod City Mayor Evelio ‘Bing’ Leonardia. He also said that the radio commentator is putting the city in a bad light.
Familiaran said that Tulfo put Bacolod City in a bad light for not verifying the claims of a certain alias ‘Norma’ who complained that she was not paid for a basketball event she organized last October 2019.
The government official considers Norma’s claims as lies and half-truths stating that the Mayor Leonardia has nothing to do with the basketball game between Bacolod City police officers and some male cast of “Ang Probinsyano”.
The vice mayor also claimed that the basketball event is not even a part of the MassKara Festival, which contradicts that the claims of the radio personality in his program.
Councilor Victor Espino also supported the statement of Familiaran stating that the Bacolod City Government has nothing to do with the basketball game. Espino said that he is assigned to chair the Peace and Order Committee during the event.
Bacolod City council members are already planning to hold a caucus on a resolution declaring Ben Tulfo as a “Persona Non-Grata”.
