Interior Secretary Año Orders PNP To Go After Vandals – “They Have Been Warned”
INTERIOR SECRETARY AÑO – Interior Secretary Eduardo Año has ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to go track down vandals who disregard the law.
In the last month, there have been activists who vandalized the Lagunsilad underpass which was newly painted. They marked the wall with “Presyo Ibaba Sahod Itaas,” “Atin Ang Pinas US-China Layas,”
Recently, four of their members were caught by police vandalizing the post near LRT Recto Station. Authorities said the suspects were captured by the Manila Police Department’s District Intelligence Division.
In a statement on Wednesday, Año said that the arrest of the four members of Panday Sining was “just and lawful. He added that the government is working hard to keep cleanliness and order but they were disrupting that.

Following this, he said that instead of stopping, they still continued their ways. He then stated that the activists didn’t listen to the authorities. “Sobra na. Tama na. Tama lang na maturuan sila ng leksyon para magtanda“, he said.
According to an article from GMA, the Interior Secretary emphasized that the government respect freedom of expression of individuals and groups. However, this freedom still has rules and regulations.

With this, DILG spokesman Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said that even the people were fed up with the activists’ antics. He then said, “Disiplina muna bago po tayo mag reklamo at magprotesta“.
