BSP Unveils New Design of P5 & P20 Coins
New Generation Currency Coin – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas finally unveils the new design of P5 coin and the coin version of P20.
Nowadays, coins are very important when it comes to the circulation of money in the Philippine economy. Most Filipino workers such as jeepney drivers, passengers, and small entrepreneurs are using coins on their everyday transactions.
Recently, BSP has already released the new design of P5 coin and the coin version of P20, which is still a part of the New Generation Currency Coin. The central bank of the Philippines released the designs after a few months of anticipation.
The previous design of P5 coin causes confusion to thousands of Filipino consumers because of its similarity with the P1 coin.
“Yung P5 coin, so enchanced and tawag namin diyan, binago namin ang kaniyang hugis para distinct siya at makilala siya ng publiko, hindi nakakalito,” BSP Sr. Asst. Governor, Security Plant Complex Engr. Dahlia Luna said.
Luna also said that the P20 coin would have two tones; ‘Bronze and Silver’ but would still feature the face of the late President Manuel L Quezon. The coin version of P20 would have a longer lifespan compared to the P20 banknote.
“Kung papalitan ng coin, dahil made of metal, so mas mahaba ang life niya. Kahit gamitin sa palengke, hindi madaling masira,” Luna said.
