Rhinitis refers to the presence of inflammation of the mucosa of the nasal cavity. Often times, noninflammatory conditions are linked to the condition.
However, this is inappropriate due to the mechanism being distinctly different. This condition can be classified as follows:
Acute Rhinitis – According to an article from Cleveland Clinic, the symptoms for this include congestion, nasal discharge (watery-to-thick, mostly clear or gray).

Allergic – The Symptoms of allergic rhinitis could be congestion, sneezing, itchy nose, and watery nasal discharge.
This is caused by hypersensitivity to allergens inhaled. It could be due to allergens occurring in specific seasons.
Non-allergic – The symptoms for this are paroxysmal sneezing, watery rhinitis, and itching in the nasal regions.
The symptoms are very close to that of the allergic variant. However, the difference is that this contains numerous eosinophils that demonstrates a dense infiltration in the secretions.
Nasal Mastocytosis – This is a condition that is caused by an abundance of mast cells in the nasal mucosa. These are taken as evidence of activation.
This activation then produces pro-inflammatory mediators. Afterward, it produces symptoms of rhinorrhea.
