10-Year-Old Boy Living Alone Survives With Plants & Homegrown Veggies
10-YEAR-OLD BOY – Most of us taste independence at around the age of 20-years-old, however, this is not the case for Dang Van Khuyen.
This young boy from Vietnam was left to fend for himself after the death of his parents at the age of 10. Based on reports, Dang was raised alone by his grandmother.
However, she passed away when he was much younger. Adding to this, Dang’s family also faced financial problems.
This caused Dang to only afford school with the help of subsidies from the government. Because of this, his father worked in the city and sent money whenever possible.
Dang’s grandmother died due to old age. What’s worse was, just after a short period, he received a call while he was still in school. He was informed that his father died in a workplace accident.
His parent’s death led to the 10-year-old boy being alone without anybody else to rely on. After learning about the incident, Dang’s teacher donated $588 so that the boy could bring his father’s body home.
According to an article from Mutshare, Dang performed a ritual for his father. Afterward, he placed his father’s coffin underneath their old house.
However, despite this devastating event, Dang didn’t waste a second wallowing in grief. Instead, the boy started to live his own independent and self-sufficient life.
Dang still continued to go to school and raised his own crops to feed himself. Other families offered to adopt him but he respectfully declined because he wanted to be independent.
Still, Dang’s teacher would visit him from time-to-time to help with the chores. Dang truly is an incredible young man who faced adversity head-on.
