VIETNAM – In this topic, we are about to learn and discuss things to know about the Southeast Asian country called Vietnam.

Known officially as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It is also the easternmost country in a peninsula called the Southeast Asian Indochinese Peninsula.

Its official language is Vietnamese and is locally known as Cộng hòa xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam.

It is surrounded by the following:

It’s capital city is Hanoi and it has a population of about 95.5 million people, as of 2018, making it the 15th most populous country in the world.

It has a landmass of about 331K kilometer squared or 127K square miles.

Its government is a Unitary Marxist-Leninist one-party socialist republic led by president and party general secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.

Its name is a variation of the term Nam Việt, or Southern Việt. Việt is a short term for Bách Việt, which is the name of a group of people living in south China and Vietnam.
