Six Mayors in Cagayan Went ‘Missing in Action’

Six mayors in Cagayan are now ‘missing in action’ as the province braces for the upcoming Tropical Storm Ramon.

Six out of 29 local executives in the province are missing in action, according to Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba. Six mayors have not been found upon checking their area of jurisdictions.

Mamba said that three of the missing mayors are currently staying in the capital city of Tuguegarao while the three others had traveled to Metro Manila. The provincial government ordered the local officials to immediately return.

As of this writing, it was still unclear why the local chief executives are ‘missing in action’ from their respective municipalities at the height of preparations for the incoming storm.

Tropical Storm Ramon has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 90 kph. Ramon is expected to make landfall in Northern Luzon between Sunday evening (November 17) and Monday morning (November 18).

The state weather bureau PAGASA has also raised Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No 1 over some parts of Luzon.

In 2018, 16 mayors in Cagayan and other parts of northern Luzon are also ‘missing-in-action’ during the devastation of the disastrous Typhoon Ompong.
