Still Unidentified Suspect Shot Kinder Teacher in Davao del Norte

KINDER TEACHER – A pre-school teacher in Davao del Norte was shot by a still unidentified suspect while she was on her way to school.

Sadly, every day, several lives are lost due to unfortunate incidents in the form of attacks. Some cases were already solved while others have left the family of the victims still crying for justice.

Politicians and private individuals were the usual targets of these incidents based on the records. Personal issues and as well as work stuff were often linked to what happen to the victims.

Recently, in Davao del Norte, another private individual met such unfortunate incident. She was on her way to school when a kinder teacher was shot by a still unidentified person.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the victim was identified as Ma’am Joan Laruya, a 42-year-old educator in Katipunan Elementary School. She was teaching kinder students.

According to Katipunan Elementary School Principal Paterna Cubar, she was really shocked by what happened to Ma’am Laruya. She stressed that, personally, she does not know any anomaly about the said teacher at school.

Based on the report, the police authorities said that Ma’am Laruya was supposedly off to school when the incident happened. The 42-year-old teacher was aboard a pedicab when she was shot by a still unidentified suspect. She did not survive the incident.

Her alleged participation in an investment scheme is considered as one of the possible roots of the incident. According to Asuncion Police Chief Major Jake Goles, allegedly, Ma’am Laruya was asked to invest and it was verified that the amount was not invested.

“Parang siya ang inutusan na mag-invest then parang i-verify, ‘di daw na-invest ang pera parang ‘di na pay in, ‘yon ang cause,” Goles said.

Currently, the investigation over the incident is still ongoing. The flag of the school is currently on a half mast as they grieve over the loss of a teacher. Also, her fellow teachers lighted candles and offered prayers for Ma’am Laruya.
