Magnitude 4.0 Earthquake Hits Eastern Samar (Nov 12)
EARTHQUAKE ALERT – The state volcanology agency Phivolcs reported that a magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck Eastern Samar.
Nowadays, earthquakes usually hit different areas in the country with no prior signs. The temblors also struck places in and out of the country with various magnitudes and intensities.
Aftershocks and damage are usually expected after the earthquake. In some instances, tsunami alert is also raised after the shaking.
On Tuesday early morning (November 12, 2019), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that a magnitude 4.0 earthquake hits the town of Guiuan in the province of Eastern Samar at 02:47 am.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located at 10.68°N, 126.39°E – 083 km S 62° E of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. The tremor is tectonic in origin and has a depth of focus of 017 kilometers, according to Phivolcs.
The seismology agency said that there is no damage or aftershocks are expected following the incident.
