PNP Says Martial Law in Mindanao May Not Need 4th Extention
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that the 4th extension of Martial Law in the region of Mindanao may not be needed.
On Tuesday (November 12, 2019), the PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said that Mindanao is now under control and think that Martial Law may not need to be extended for the fourth time.
Banac said that they will recommend it to Malacañang Palace in December since peace and order are already visible in the region of Mindanao. PNP also explained that the state security forces will be raised in the province of Sulu when the military ruling ends.
PNP also explained that they will select provinces in Mindanao that still have the suspected presence of armed groups under martial law is still subject to study.
The Martial Law in Mindanao has been declared by President Rodrigo Duterte last May 23, 2017, after the Maute Group attacked Marawi City.
