Magnitude 4.8 Earthquake Hits Sarangani, Davao Occidental
BREAKING NEWS – A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck the town of Sarangani in the province of Davao Occidental.
On Friday morning (November 8, 2019), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that a magnitude 4.8 earthquake hits the province of Davao Occidental at 06:51 am.
The earthquake has been located at 05.31°N, 126.18°E – 078 km S 80° E of Sarangani in Davao Occidental. The tremor is tectonic in origin and has a depth of focus of 175 kilometers, according to Phivolcs.
The state seismology agency said that no further damage or aftershocks are expected following the moderately strong quake.
Over these past few weeks, earthquake has been one of the most discussed topics online after a series of powerful temblors struck Cotabato and several parts of Mindanao resulting in damage of properties and loss of lives.
The strong quakes damaged numerous houses, buildings, and business establishments in the affected areas. The temblors also injured numerous people in the area and even killed some of the residents.
Various government agencies and organizations are already conducting different programs to help the quake victims in Mindanao.
