Magnitude 4.4 Earthquake Hits Sarangani, Davao Occidental
BREAKING NEWS – The state volcanology agency Phivolcs reported that a magnitude 4.4 earthquake shook Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
Over the past few days, earthquake has been of the most discussed topics online after a series of powerful tremors jolted Cotabato and several parts of Mindanao. The strong temblors destroyed several buildings and establishments in the area.
The unexpected disaster has also took the lives and injured some of the residents living in the quake-affected areas. The major earthquakes were followed by numerous aftershocks prompting the local government units to take immediate actions after the incident.
On Saturday afternoon (November 2, 2019), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.4 magnitude quake hits the town of Sarangani in province of Davao at 1:03 pm.
Phivolcs said that the earthquake’s epicenter was located at 153 kilometers southwest of Sarangani. The tremor is tectonic in origin and has a depth of 313 kilometers. The agency also said that no damage and aftershocks are expected.
Previously, Sarangani town has been struck by a magnitude 5.5 earthquake on Friday (November 1).
