Now, a high school runner also got disqualified for wearing a hijab. Based on a report from CNN, Noor Alexandria Abukaram said no one had brought up the headwear before the race. They just let her run and when she reached the finish line, she wondered why her name wasn’t on the list. The 16-year-old athlete represents Sylvania Northview High School In Ohio.

“It was like your worst nightmare to have to compete and then find out that you got disqualified and it’s because of something that you love… why should you have to sacrifice your religion and a part of who you are to run, to do another thing that you’re very passionate about?” she said.
