Vicente Silva Mananasala is a cubist painter and illustraor. He was born in the municipality of Macabebe in Pampanga on January 22, 1910. In 1926, he studied in the Univeristy of the Philippines School of Fine Arts.

In his painting career, he developed a variant of cubism called transparent cubism, where it is characterized as delicate tones, shapes, and patterns of figure and environment are masterfully superimposed. One of his woks where transparent cubism is applied is Kalabaw or Carabao in English.

He was given the award National Artist of the Philippines in Visual Arts and the influence of the following neo-realists:

  • Malang
  • Angelito Antonio
  • Norma Belleza
  • Manuel Baldemor

On August 22, 1981 in the capital Manila, he died due to lung cancer
