New Low-Pressure Area Turns Into Tropical Depression ‘Perla’

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the new low-pressure area spotted east of Baler, Aurora has intensified into Tropical Depression ‘Perla’.

On Wednesday morning (October 16, 2019), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest weather updates in the country particularly regarding the new LPA spotted in Aurora.

PAGASA reported that the weather disturbance has intensified into a tropical depression and given a local name “Perla”. The LPA was last spotted at 1,335 kilometers east of Baler, according to the weather agency.

Tropical Depression ‘Perla’

The LPA was spotted around 3:00 am on Wednesday and developed into a tropical depression as of 8:00 am. Perla is slowly moving northwest but has no direct effect in any parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the northeasterly surface windflow generates cold winds, which not favorable for the low-pressure area. Cloudy weather condition and light rain showers are expected over Batanes and the Babuyan group of islands.

Mindanao and Eastern Visayas would experience cloudy conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of the country would also experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers, according to the weather bureau.
