PNP Chief General Oscar Albayalde To Leave Post

GENERAL OSCAR ALBAYALDE – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Oscar Albayalde said he is leaving his post amid allegations against him.

Currently, several officials of the government are facing issues and allegations. One of them is General Albayalde, the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Albayalde is the second appointee to the position under the Duterte Administration. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte chose him after now-Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa left the highest post in PNP.

Currently, Albayalde is facing allegations over the “ninja cops” issue. The said issue revolves around the alleged stealing of some 13 police of drugs during an operation against a Chinese suspected to be involved in the trade.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Albayalde was head of the Pampanga Police then. Former police officer Benjamin Magalong claimed that the then-Pampanga Police Head asked to defer the dismissal order versus his officers.

Aside from Magalong, a certain Rudy Lacadin, a retired police officer, also showed up. He claimed that Albayalde allegedly called him over the “ninja cops” case and admitted that some of the drugs went to him.

According to the report, amid the issue and allegations, General Oscar Albayalde said he is leaving his post as the PNP Chief. He is scheduled to retire on November 8 when he will turn 56 years old, the age of mandatory retirement.

Albayalde previously expressed that he was forming a legal team to go after those people who accused him. According to the PNP Chief, it seems that everyone is teaming up against him.

As of this writing, there are still no further information regarding the issue. We’ll keep you posted for updates.
