The Five Dwarf Planets | Planets Of The Solar System
DWARF PLANETS – In this topic, we will now know the five different known dwarf planets in the entire solar system.

These are celestial bodies that look like small planets but lacks the characteristics to be qualified as one. In 2006, one of the planets that fall in the roster of the planets of the Solar System was removed.
Here are the 5 celestial bodies in the Solar System, according to Space:
- Eris
- The largest of the five and the almost twin of Pluto and the reason Pluto got demoted. It takes 561.4 years to orbit the sun and its day is way longer then Earth’s. This body has one moon called Dysnomia
- Pluto
- Formerly the 9th planet and the farthest planet. It was named after the Roman counterpart of the Greek god of the underworld Hades. It takes 247.9 years to complete its orbit around the Sun. It has five moons, with three named Charon, Nix, and Hydra
- Haumea
- Discovered in 2003. This moon has an extremely elongated shape. The planet takes 282 years to complete its orbit around the sun.
- Makemake
- This planet takes at about 305 years to complete its orbit around the sun.
- Ceres
- It was first called a planet, then an asteroid then was called a dwarf planet. It is the closest to Earth and takes 4.6 Earth years to complete its orbit.
