Would this really be the best solution to reduce traffic on the roads? What does this mean for commuters?

A lot of questions come to our minds when thinking about this topic. That is why Mayor Benjamin Magalong recently had a meeting with Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade.

According to a report from ABS-CBN, Tugade offered Magalong a deal to help erect a cable car system. This proposed transportation system would connect Baguio City to Pugo, La Union, said the LGU.

In a statement on their official website, they said that the conceptual designs for the system would be the first in the country. They added that this design would be under review prior to making agreements.

One of the biggest questions regarding this system would be the cost. Based on the statement, the cable car system was the subject of a P26 M feasibility study funded by the French government.

The Mayor also showed his willingness to help the city if it decided to push for the monorail project. The monorail project has been proposed between Baguio and La Trinidad.

As per the report, the monorail or automated guideway transit would run from Benguet provincial capital to the slaughterhouse compound in Baguio. It also extends to the city’s Bonifacio rotunda up to the SM City Baguio.

Magalong, in an earlier statement, said that that traffic management is no easy feat. According to the Baguio City government, another possible target site for the project is the Pasig River in Metro Manila.
