PAGASA Did Not Issue Haze Bulletin, Warns Public Against Bogus Account
PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA recently said that they did not issue a “haze bulletin” and more likely never have a Visayan branch account.
In our previous report, a Visayan branch of the weather bureau issued a haze bulletin regarding the Indonesian haze that was carried by the weather disturbance. This came from the Facebook account of the Visayan branch.
However, according to a report from ABS-CBN, the bureau did not issue the haze bulletin. Moreover, they never created a Visayan branch Facebook account. Hence, it’s fake.
The bureau further warned the public to remain vigilant against unofficial information from unofficial sources.
The bureau also posted the announcement on Facebook:
This was also further confirmed by a netizen named Jun Jimenez Tariman, who pointed out that the agency who has authority regarding air quality test, including the determination of haze is the Environment Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and National Resources (DENR).
As per the report, the bureau added the announcements and updates should come from the following online accounts:
- Website: bagong.pagasa.dost.gov.ph
- Facebook: Dost_pagasa
- Twitter: @dost_pagasa
- YouTube: DOST-PAGASA WEATHER REPORT
