Facebook Post About Life & Struggle of OFWs in Dubai Goes Viral
OFWs – A Facebook post about the life and struggle of the overseas Filipino workers in Dubai went viral on social media.
Undeniably, a lot of Filipinos are working abroad now. Many tried their fate in other countries in the hope of earning bigger than what they can earn in the Philippines.
These people who are considered as heroes are willing to do everything to be able to give their loved ones better and comfortable lives. They fly to foreign places and battle with longing every day.
However, sadly, other people are not aware of the hardships that Filipinos working abroad have to deal with daily. They surely miss their loved ones and life there may not be very easy. They really have to toil to earn.
Recently, on Facebook, a post revealing the life and struggles of OFWs in Dubai went viral on the social media. It was posted on the Facebook page “OFW Lifestyle”.
Based on the post, the average salary in Dubai which is part of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is between 2,500 to 3,500 Dirhams. If converted to Philippine peso, it is between Php 35,000.00 to Php 42,000.00.
The said amounts may sound really big but, based on the post, there are really Filipinos who are earning only 1,500 AED abroad. Their daily and monthly expenses would be deducted from their wage.
The average accommodation in Dubai is at 1,000 AED while the grocery may take 500 AED per month. The flag down of taxi is 12 AED and it is the people’s only against the heat of the sun.
Based on the viral Facebook post, what will remain from the salary of OFWs will be divided among their savings, allowance, and the money they will send their families in the Philippines. Sadly, fast food is a luxury to them as a meal may cost 24 AED or Php 300.00 in the Philippines.
