With this rapid growth of technology, industries as well as consumers are realizing the importance of integration. This means the capability to interconnect one device with another.

This is where the Internet of Things (IoT) comes into play. With the IoT, the world that we live in becomes more interconnected.

We are then intertwined within the largest network of data and information. Because of this, our lives become more convenient.

According to Internet Of Things Agenda, an IoT ecosystem includes web-enabled smart devices. These included sensors and communication hardware.

The IoT uses sensors from our devices to send the data collected to a platform that turns the raw data into something of use to us, and to other devices.

Let’s say you have a smart watch that tracks your heart rate. Once the data is collected, it sends the information to the cloud which can then be retrieved via your phone using an app that is connected to the watch.

You can then see statistics about your health, your heart rate, and various biometrics related information all at the tip of your fingers. These are just some examples of what IoT can do.

Basically the Internet of Things is a platform where data can be collected, processed and manipulated to our benefit. It then integrates that data in our devices, and interconnecting them in one large network.
