Nowadays, people love to have tattoos on their body and considered it as an art. There are also some people who believed it’s just a dirty mark in their body and will surely affect their career in the future.
An old woman in the Philippines named Apo Whang-Od inks her visitors and celebrities using a bamboo hammer, dried thorns, and soot as ink. She is the master of the traditional Pinoy art and the last ’mambabatok.’
Among the celebrities who got a tattoo from the legendary Apo Whang-Od includes Rhian Ramos, Patricia Tumulak, Aiza Seguerra, Drew Arellano and Maine Mendoza. She is considered one of the famous tattoo artists in the world.
Another story about an elderly woman who decided to get her first tattoo surfaced on the internet. She was believed to be the oldest woman in her country to get inked.
Based on a report from Ladbible, a 94-year-old woman from the United Kingdom named Hilda West said it was her lifelong dream to get a tattoo. De just decided to get inked to pay tribute to her loved ones.
West got a tattoo to honor her deceased husband Ernest and son David. She asked her caregiver at a care-home to arrange a tattoo session for her.
“I’ve always wanted a tattoo and I thought it’d be very nice to have Ernest’s initials next to our son’s,” she said.
According to the report, artist Matty Garner inked the elderly woman for free. Now, she’s very pleased proud of her tattoo. “It went very smoothly. I didn’t feel any pain. He was very good. I’m very happy with it. I’m glad I had it done,” she said.
West is also planning to get a butterfly and peacock tattoo next time.
