PAGASA – Severe Tropical Storm Liwayway Slows Down
PAGASA -State weather bureau PAGASA recently said that severe tropical strom Liwayway slowed down on Wednesday.
Liwayway (International Name: Lingling) was last spotted 345 kilometers northeast of the municipality of Basco, Batanes as of 10 AM. Liwayway slowly moves north northeast, packing with winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 160 kilometers per hour.
According to a recent post from ABS-CBN, the twelfth storm is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, the agency is currently spotting another low pressure area that is found 1, 050 kilometers east northeast of Mindanao. The LPA will be locally named “Marilyn” if it intensifies into a storm.
As per the report, the weather disturbance will still continue to deliver light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over the province of Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands.
The weather bureau also lifted the signal warning over Batanes, however, along with Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, rare gusty comditions still occur due to the southwest monsoon or habagat.
Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzib will face light to moderate, with instances of heavy rains due to habagat.
Residents are still advised to enact preventive measures, coordinate with local disaster offices and stay updated.
