PAGASA – Liwayway To Cause Rains Over Areas In Philippines

PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA recently announced that tropical depression Liwayway will cause rains over certain areas of the country.

Accoding to GMA News, the agency earlier said that the following areas will bring cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers over the following areas:

  • Bicol Region
  • Visayas
  • Northern Mindanao
  • Caraga

Aside from that, the mentioned areas above will also have to face flash floods or landslides especially in times of heavy rain.

Tropical depression Liwayway was last seen at 3AM at approximately 450 kilometers east of the municipality of Daet, Camarines Norte or 325 kilometers east northeast of the municipality of Virac, Catanduanes.

Liwayway is packed with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour that are located near the center of the storm and gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. The tropical depression is also moving north northwest at approximately 25 kilometers per hour.

As per the report, the GMA network’s meteorologist Nathaniel “Mang Tani” Cruz said that Liwayway has a slight chance that it would make landfall on the country, further adding that it will head towards eastern China.

As of now the agency haven’t raised any cyclone wind signals, yet the tropical depression is likely to gain more strength.

On the other hand, the habagat or southwest monsoon continues to affect the west part of Luzon. The following areas will face cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers due to habagat:

  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Occidental Mindoro
  • Palawan

As for the capital and the rest of the Philippines will experience partly to cloudy skies with isolated rains because of localized thunderstorms.

As for coastal waters, moderate to rough waters with waves ranging from 1.2 to 3.4 meters tall will be in areas in western Luzon and eastern Visayas. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate coastal waters.
