Phivolcs Announces Magnitude 4 Earthquake Jolts Masbate on Monday (September 2)
MASBATE – The state volcanology agency Phivolcs reported that a magnitude 4.0 earthquake hits the province of Masbate.
On Monday morning (September 2, 2019), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that Cataingan, Masbate has been struck by a strong tremor around 11:10 am.
The quake’s epicenter has been located at five kilometers northeast of Cataingan, Masbate, according to Phivolcs.

The seismology agency has not recorded any intensities in the province and reported that the earthquake is tectonic in origin and has a depth of 17 kilometers.
Phivolcs said that no damage and aftershocks have been recorded as of this writing. No aftershocks are also expected.
