FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM – Here are some of the things we need to know about the reproductive system of the females.

The female reproductive system is designed with the internal and external sex organs all essential in reproduction of a new offspring. It has various parts that play major role and carry out distinct function. The woman are the ones who get pregnant and gives birth.

And now, here are the various parts of the female reproductive system with its respective importance:

  • Labia majora – This is also called as “large lips” to which at puberty, this is covered with hair and contain sweat and oil-secreting glands.
  • Labia minora – Also known as “small lips” where they can just be found inside the labia majora surrounding the woman’s opening.
  • Bartholin’s glands – This is placed beside the woman’s opening.
  • Cli*or*s – The two labia minora meet in this particular part. This small organ is hypersensitive covered with a fold of skin.
  • V*gi*a – This is also known as the birth canal.
  • Uterus (womb) – This is the home of a developing fetus divided in two parts – the cervix and corpus. A channel in the cervix is where the sperm enters and the menstrual blood exits.
  • Ovaries – Located on both sides of the uterus are the ovaries which is small and oval in shape. They are responsible for the production of eggs and hormones as per WebMD.
  • Fallopian tubes – They are two tubes from the ovaries to the uterus. This is also where fertilization occurs and marks the beginning of embryogenesis.
