Sta. Rosa City Gets Own Legislative District Following the Approval of Pres. Duterte

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave his approval to making a separate legislative district for Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

Visibly, more and more places in the Philippines are getting their own legislative districts now. When a place has its own legislative district, it will have to elect its own representative in the higher branch of government by the next election.

One of the areas in the country that will soon elect its representative is Sta. Rosa City in Laguna. It was previously part of the first district of Laguna.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the creation of a separate legislative district for Sta. Rosa City. It was pushed through the Republic Act No. 11395.

Currently, Sta. Rosa City remains to be represented by Dan Fernandez, the incumbent representative of the first district of Laguna, at the House of Representatives. Following the approval of the President, only the San Pedro City will be left as part of the first district of the province.

Based on the report, all changes related to the approval of the bill will be implemented next elections. Citing its website, Sta. Rosa City reportedly holds 300,000 people. They will have to elect their own representative at the House of Representatives.
