Lawmakers Filed No-Homework Policy
Two bills proposing the no-homework policy from kindergarten to high school have been filed at the House of Representatives.
Deputy Speaker Evelina Escudero files the House Bill No. 3611 with the aim to stop teachers from giving homework to the students. The bill also aims to limit the school activities to give more time for the school children to rest.
The lawmakers said that students do not need to spend their leisure time making assignments and homework. No homework means students would have more quality time for family and home.
Escudero wants to eliminate homework as a class requirement that usually deprive the students’ quality time for rest and enjoy. The proposed bill covers the kindergarten up to highschool level.
“Homework assignments can deprive students and parents precious quality time for rest, relaxation and interaction after school hours and even on weekends,” Escudero said.
The bill also wants students deposit textbooks in school to save the school children from carrying heavy learning materials on their bags. It is similar to HB 3883 of Quezon City Rep. Alfred Vargas that stops teachers from assigning homework during weekend.
According to the student in South Africa in 2018, homework leads to less interest to learn since it already becomes a burden for both parents and students.

For me po better po na no homework dahil sa experiences po NG mga anak ko minsan nagkakasabay sabay pa homework projects and exam….natutulog na halos hatinggabi na and sometimes SA pgod and pressure din result to sickness..maghapon na po KC sa paaralan and sapat na po Yun SA pagkatuto NG mga Bata…Tama po na magkaroon sapat na pahinga Ang mga Bata at sapat na tulog…Sa TAMANG gabay NG magulang ay magagamit Ang oras sa kapaki pakinabang na paraan…Another factor na kapag need printed homework ay need pa punta computer shop at burden fin mga Bata koag nktira sa mga linang at need pa punta bayan…marami po KC mga against na guro dahil most of them ay single pa at Hindi pa nararanasan sa mga anak….
Currently, ang homeworks ng mga bata eh magulang ang gumagawa paanong matututo ang mga bata nun, yun ang ayusin nyo. maganda homework kung natatama sa capacity ng bata ang gawain. hindi puro xerox, hindi puro picture at kung ano ano pa na hindi kayang gawin ng bata(lalo na 6 years old), something that is advance topics sa mga reference books nila para masanay silang mag explore ng books nila.
