Based on a report on ABS-CBN News citing ANC, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte will not allow former Calauan Mayor Antonio Sanchez to be granted early release. Panelo cited the Republic Act 10592

“Mr. Sanchez under Republic Act 10952 is not eligible so the President, as the Chief enforcer of the law, will have to follow the law,” the Presidential Spokesman said.

Based on the report, both BuCor Chief Nicanor Faeldon and Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra have earlier expressed a change of stand. According to the former, the former Mayor may not qualify due to his many violations.

On the part of Guevarra, the Justice Secretary expressed that the crime committed by the former Calauan Mayor disqualifies him from being given an early release. Undeniably, it is a sign of relief for many people.
