Victims of Ex-Mayor Sanchez Spoke On His Treatment To Them Before
EX-MAYOR SANCHEZ ISSUE – The mothers of Eileen Sarmenta and Allan Gomez spoke on the treatment of former Calauan Mayor Antonio Sanchez to them before.
Currently, one of the widely-talked about topics is the looming release of former Calauan Mayor Antonio Sanchez. He was found guilty over the death of University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) students Eileen Sarmenta and Allan Gomez.
Not only the former Mayor but as well as his men who were responsible for giving Eileen as a gift to the former politician were imprisoned. The former Mayor was sentenced to seven(7) counts of reclusion perpetua or 40-year imprisonment.
Ex-Mayor Sanchez’s looming release sparked reactions from a lot of people. Many are against releasing him from prison while there were a few defending that he has changed. On the part of the authorities, they have shown hints that it may not happen due to his violations behind the bars.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, speaking to ANC’s Early Edition, the mothers of the victims of ex-Mayor Sanchez and his men have spoken. They also revealed the former politician’s treatment to them during the proceedings of the case.
According to Maria Clara Sarmenta, they saw the faces of the suspects five(5) times a week for sixteen(16) months. She also had a say on how the suspects look at them.
“Alam mo tinitingnan nila kami as kami may kasalanan. He [Sanchez] would even smile, parang kinukutya ba kami,” Eileen’s mom expressed based on the report.
According to Sarmenta and Iluminada Gomez, they did not receive even a single centavo from the suspects. They were ordered by the Supreme Court to pay some Php 10-million for the damages.
Sarmenta stressed that her husband could not even identify the face of Eileen when they saw her. According to her, even the staff at the morgue had a hard time fixing her that they asked for a photo of her.
Based on the report, Sarmenta claimed that she did not know details about the death of her daughter until the looming release of ex-Mayor Sanchez sparked. According to her, she wanted to remember her as alive and jolly. Allan Gomez’s mother also wanted the same.
“We would want to remember them as alive and well,” Iluminada expressed.

What he did was abhorrent and unforgiveable, he deserves a life sentence with no chance for parole.
