Boy Shares Stories Of Gina Lopez’ Act Of Kindness

GINA LOPEZ – A boy from Davao City shared some stories about the big heat and kindness of Gina Lopez towards children.

Former Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) secretary Gina Lopez is the sister of ABS-CBN chairman Emeritus Gabby Lopez. The tv network announced the sad news on Monday, August 19.

The philanthropist died at the age of 65 due to brain cancer and multiple organ failure. Her death was mourned by her friends, families, and the people she helped.

In a previous article, the celebrity chef and vlogger, Erwan Heussaff, dedicated his Instagram post to Gina Lopez. He also shared his memorable escapade in Tawi Tawi with ex-DENR secretary.

The late environmentalist has surely inspired lots of people through her advocacies, and charity works all over the Philippines. Even senators hail her for her passion for helping the environment.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, the 19-year-old sick boy in Davao City is among the people Gina Lopez has helped. The boy is among the people who mourned the death of the ABS-CBN Foundation chairman.

Aljon Cerdiña said the late philanthropist saved him and his three other siblings after they were abandoned by their parents in 2001. He and his sibling were sheltered at Bantay Bata 163.

According to the report, Aljon said he spent three years at the Children’s Village in Bangkal, Davao City in Hagonoy Bulacan. He met Lopez again in 2009 and invited him to her house. He said he has visited her house three times.

“Sobrang saya po. Kasi maraming bata nakapunta sa bahay niya. Pinaupo po ako sa sala at binigyan ng merienda. Tapos masaya siya nung nakita niya ako, sabi niya ‘O, Aljon ano gusto mo gawin? Gusto mo maligo sa pool?’ Tapos ayun binuhat niya ako at naligo kami dalawa sa swimming pool. Tapos kumain kami ng tanghalian. Ano gusto mo ulam, sabihin mo lahat, ‘wag kang mahiya,” he said.

Based on the report, Gina Lopez is also the one who helped him get home to Davao. She gave him a play station and P12,000 cash. Aljon was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

The mother of the sick boy expressed her gratitude for the kindness of Lopez towards her children. One of her kids finished college with the help of Bantay Bata.
