22 People Left Dead by Myanmar Landslide

MYANMAR LANDSLIDE – At least twenty-two(22) people were left dead by a landslide that took place in a part of Myanmar.

Unfortunately, natural calamities can happen anytime. It can affect us even when we are in the comfort of our homes just like what recently happened in a part of Myanmar.

Thae Pyar Kone, a village in the eastern part of the Southeast Asian country, was hit by a landslide. It wiped out Paung township and sixteen(16) homes which led to deaths and injuries.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN, as of this writing, at least twenty-two(22) people were left dead by the Myanmar landslide. Local administrator Myo Min Tun said that forty-seven(47) people obtained injuries.

Unfortunately, a lot of people have yet to be found. As to the officials, there is a possibility that up to 100 people are still missing. Speaking to AFP, a survivor of the incident narrated her experience.

According to Htay Htay Win, she heard a “huge noise” and then saw her house being engulfed by mud. The 32-year-old woman was crying as two(2) of her daughters and five(5) relative of her have yet to be found.

The landslide was triggered by the monsoon rains in the place. Based on the report, in the recent weeks, around 85,000 people were displaced due to flood. The authorities have already cleared the main highway between Mawlamyine and Yangon.
