Myanmar Plane Goes Missing With More Than 100 Passengers Aboard

A Myanmar military plane vanished between Myike and Yangon on Wednesday carrying more than a hundred passengers.

MYANMAR – Officials said that one of their military transport went missing after it took off on Wednesday afternoon from an air base in the southern part of the country.

According from a news report of the New York Times, the said military plane that went missing was carrying mostly relatives of the Myanmar soldiers which also includes children and 14 members of the crew.

As mentioned on the report, ships and aircraft of the navy and the air force was sent to search for the plane that had disappeared along the areas near the Myike Air Base.

The plane is a Y-8F-200 four-engine turboprop, a Chinese-made model and said to be on its way to Yangon.

Moreover, based upon the report of the Aljazeera, there were debris coming from the plane that was found in the sea.

No one knows what happened to the plane for they have lost contact from it. Yet, accordingly, the weather there was just fine despite the place is currently on its monsoon season.

Naing Lin Zaw, a tourism official in Myeik stated, “”Now they have found pieces of the damaged plane in the sea 136 miles (218 km) away from Dawei city.”

However, upon to the other report from the ABC News, the latest military update says that there were a total of 122 passengers aboard the flight where 108 are the soldiers and their family members while 14 are the crew members.

Among the passengers, there were 15 children, 58 adults and 35 soldiers and officers.

The said aircraft was bought on March 2016 and has 809 flying hours. During the flight, it carries 2.4 tons of supplies.

Since the weather was fine when it flew, officials were concluding that perhaps it had suffered some failures and problems on its technicalities.
