Malacañang Palace Declares August 12 As Holiday

WALANG PASOK – Malacañang Palace declared August 12, 2019 (Monday) as a holiday in observance of Eid al-Adha .

President Rodrigo Duterte and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed a proclamation declaring August 12 as a holiday in celebration of the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice. 

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) informed the office of the president regarding the exact date of Eidul Adha in compliance with the Proclamation No.555.

However, Palace has not yet revealed any details on whether the date will be a regular or a special non-working holiday. Medialdea said that the official document will be issued later today (August 8, 2019).

Eid al-Adha, is one of the biggest religious festivals for Muslims all around the world in commemoration of Abraham’s obedience to the command of Allah.

The other Muslim holiday is called “Eid’l Fitr” or the Feast of Ramadan, which was declared as a regular holiday last June 5, 2019.

The month of August brings two long weekends for the Filipino people – August 10-12 (Eid al-Adha) and August 24-26 (National Heroes Day). August 21 has been also declared as a special non-working holiday (Ninoy Aquino Day).
