79-Year-Old Grandma Faces Jail Imprisonment After Feeding Stray Cats

79-Year-Old Grandma Sentenced to Jail After Feeding Stray Cats at Her Back Porch

A 79-year-old grandma has been sentenced to jail imprisonment after caring and feeding stray cats, which is considered as a law violation in Ohio, USA.

An elderly woman in Ohio, USA identified as Nancy Segula has been sentenced to jail after appearing in front of Magistrate Jeffrey Short last week. Segula allegedly violated the city ordinance by feeding stray cats.

In 2017, Garfield Heights released an ordinance declaring that feeding and caring for stray dogs and cats is illegal.

The old grandma has been regularly feeding the stray cats visiting her back porch after her own cats and husband died in 2017.

Segula’s neighbor reported her feeding habit to the police authorities and was sentenced to 10-days jail imprisonment after her fourth offense. She was also charged to pay a fine of $2,000 for her violation.

However, the old lady believed that the penalty is too much and her son Dave Pawlowski also expressed his concern to the punishment sentenced to his mother.

“I’m sure people hear about the things that happen downtown in that jail. And they are going to let my 79-year-old mother go there?” Pawlowski said.

Nancy is expected to report on August 11, 2019 (Sunday).
