Many people usually hire musicians and singers to play at their event to entertain the audiences. Our friends, family, relatives, and colleagues might also rent musicians on some occasions.

Hiring singers and musicians to play for special events such as a wedding, birthday celebration, and other occasions are quite costly.

Here are some things we should consider regarding the costs of renting musicians:

  • Training & Practice

Band members usually spend long hours of practice to bring their music into perfection. Practice also includes studio fees, wi-fi connection, electricity, and more.

  • Cost of Instruments and Equipment

Musicians invest in their instruments and equipment to get a quality tone and sound. For example; a guitarist might spend P50,000 to P60,000 electric guitar, P2,000 – P8,000 guitar case, and P80,000 – 90,000 worth of guitar effects excluding their practice amplifier ranging around P12,000.

  • Transportation

Bands usually travel to different gigs and rehearsal venues carrying their musical instruments. Most musicians are traveling using public utility vehicles and pay the corresponding fare.

Instrumentalists and singers have to prepare at least 20 songs per gig for two sets of 45 minutes but their working hours goes beyond that. They have to study all the songs by themselves for a couple of hours and then to practice them with the other band members.

Live performers, especially in formal events, have to invest in formal attire such as suits, long gowns, cocktail dresses, and formal shoes to match the theme in every gig.

  • Marketing & Promotion

Musicians have to spend on marketing to promote their upcoming shows. Entertainers have to pay internet and telephone bills, which is needed for transactions with clients.

  • Cost of Living

Band members have also to pay food, utensils, rent, and other expenses although talent fee is their only source of income. They need to get a certain number of gigs in order to get the same income earned by regular company employees.
