Comedian-host Joey de Leon, tagged as Henyo Master received criticisms due his “bastos” joke to Eat Bulaga co-host Pia Guanio.

Joey has been a host in the longest-running noontime show in the history of Philippine television for 40 years now. The trio, TVJ, composed of Tito and Vic Sotto, and himself has become a household name for four decades.

Throughout those years, they already established their names in the industry. They are loved and respected by their fans coming from different age brackets. However, it can’t be avoided that they sometimes get involved in controversies, especially that people are into social media now.

On Wednesday, the name of the veteran comedian, became one of the Twitter trends.

Apparently, he once again had a controverial statement. For showbiz fans, it is not quite surprising if the Henyo Master is one of the trending topics. Seemingly, this is already an automatic thing for them.

So why Joey de Leon hit the top Twitter trends on July 24?

Based on the posts from netizens, the comedian-host had a “bastos” remark on Pia Guanio.

He said, “Sarap pala kasama ‘tong si Pia, kita hita.”

Because of this, the Henyo Master received bashing on social media. They criticized him for being irresponsible in throwing jokes to other people, especially to a woman.

A netizen who was watching the show said that the awkward reaction of Pia can be noticed when Joey said his joke.
