Student Fare Discount Bill Approved by President Duterte
President Rodrigo Duterte has finally signed the Student Fare Discount Act into law with the aim to provide discounted fare for the students.
On Monday (July 15, 2019), President Duterte approved the Republic Act. 11314 or proposed fare discount for the students on all public transportation.
The newly approved law covers all public vehicles including buses, taxis, trains, jeepneys, ships, and aircraft.
All students could avail the program by just presenting their school ID or updated validated enrollment form.
However, the “Act Institutionalizing the Grant of Student Fare Discount Privileges on Public Transportation and for other Purposes” does not cover school services, tourist service, shuttle service, and other services under a contract.
The House of Representatives and the Senate approved the bill last February 2019.
