In the English subject, the complexity of the lessons are arranged from the simplest to the most complicated. Let us take for example the discussion of sentences.
One of the lessons about sentences that is discussed in the elementary years is the kinds of sentences – the declarative, the interrogative, the imperative, and the exclamatory.
Aside from the kinds of sentences, there is also what we call the “sentence structure”. It refers to the composition of the sentence including the dependent clause and independent clause.
One of the sentence structures in English is the ‘simple sentence’. It contains one independent clause or a clause that can stand alone. Here are some of its examples:
- The monkey climbed the tree.
- The ice cream melted at the fridge.
- Mr. Nonasco arrived at the hospital early.
- The insect was found inside the jar.
- The child woke up late.
