In order to defend themselves from anything that will hurt them, these animals are among the most poisonous known in the world.

- ASIAN TIGER SNAKE – They are both venomous and poisonous. They produce toxin in their bites and stores poison from the skin of their prey’s skin.
- HOODED PITOHUI – They have neurotoxin in their skin and feathers called homobatrachotoxin, that when in contact, causes numbness and tingling in humans.
- HAWKSBILL SEA TURTLES – The poison comes from toxic algae and sponges to which if their meat is eaten, one will suffer marine turtle poisoning, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and other stomach complaints.
- CANE TOAD – They have poison glands with bufotoxin that is so potent it can kill animals. Even the tadpoles is also highly toxic when eaten by other animals.
- COMB STARS – They have tetrodoxin which has no antidote yet. It causes paralysis and death due to respiratory failure.
- STRIATED SURGEONFISH – They consume tiny dinoflagellates that produces maitotoxin building up in their skin. It causes ciguatera fish poisoning.
- PUFFER FISH – The liver, kidneys, and spikes has harmful nerve toxins which is not safe to humans.
