Fisherfolk Group Vows To File Impeachment Case Against President Duterte
FISHERFOLK – The fisherfolk group PAMALAKAYA vowed to file an impeachment case against President Rodrigo Duterte.
Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently facing one of the most critical issues of the country due to his friendship with China.
Recently, the 74-year-old politician said he is allowing the Chinese fishers to hunt in Philippine’s exclusive economic zone.
Critics and other Filipino people reacted to his statement and thought Duterte just made an “impeachable offense.”
The President was not intimidated by the remarks of his critics. In fact, he even threatened them back by saying he would put those critics behind bars.
Meanwhile, the fisherfolk group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (PAMALAKAYA-Pilipinas) held a protest in Mendiola on Friday, July 5.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN, PAMALAKAYA expressed their frustration over President Duterte’s verbal order to allow China to fish in the Philippine waters.
The protesters said the president is totally wrong to share the exclusive resources of the Filipino people.
According to the report, the PAMALAKAYA will be filing an impeachment complaint against Duterte once Congress opens this July.
“Walang nakasulat, pero merong pag-amin. Mismo nanggaling sa kanya na pinayagan nya na mangisda verbally sa pag-uusap nila ni Presidente Xi Jin Ping yung mangingisdang tsino bilang bahagi daw nang pagkakaibigan. Hindi dapat ganun,” Chairperson of PAMALAKAYA Fernando Hicap said.
Based on the report, the chairperson said the Pinoy fishermen are not afraid of President Duterte’s ‘bullying and intimidation.
“Hindi po natatakot ang mga mangingisda ng ating bansa sa ganitong mga bullying at pananakot ni Presidente Duterte dahil wala po kaming kasalanan, sya (Duterte) ang dapat matakot kasi sya ang merong kasalanan,” said Hicap.
Among the ground, the fisherfolk group will be citing treason, betrayal of public trust and violation of the constitution.
