The captured whales were closely monitored as they were transported to the ocean said the Russian Research Institute for Fisheries and Oceanology.

Vets conducted all the necessary tests before they were freed, and the results showed the animals are in good health,” said the Institute.

Based on the report, Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered to release the whales into the wild last week.

The freed whales were tagged with a tracking device so their behavior and movement will be monitored.
